Seriously.
You want to know my secret for feeling better after a craptastic
day?
*drumroll please*
Kickboxing? *ouch!*
No,
but very therapeutic I’ve heard.
Climbing
the Elliptical? *elastic legs*
Not
exactly, but it does have some positive endorphin rushes associated
with it.
Dartboard
with pictures of my enemies posted upon it? *I have a dartboard?
Or enemies?*
Or enemies?*
Um…no.
That sounds a little cruel and creepy. -- Yeah, you.-- Stop doing that.
The
cure all is actually….. DANCING! *shake your groove thing (Peaches and Herb)*
I
know many of you might have thought I’d say reading. That is a
whole other blog.
Yeparoo,
I feel so much better after turning up my iPod and dancing around my
room like there is no tomorrow. Making up my own steps as I bob along
to the music. The rhythm hits me and before I know it, my legs are on
a journey and I have no clue where they will stop. The music takes me
away. Sometimes music and dancing my annoyances and pains away is
what keeps me going. I can picture myself actually kicking– ahem,
not here-- on “So You Think You Can Dance?” Yeah,
I’d probably suck, but it’s my fantasy. I can totally get into
the whole scenario. However, I don’t like the nonexistent clothes.
I don’t think I’d wear a hoodie, but it’s good to keep things
real lol.
I
have no real experience with dancing or classes or background. I just
LOVE to do it. I like the way I feel when I crank that song up and my
hips find the beat. Becoming the character is essential as well. It
totally is worth getting into the zone and singing along with the
song as you feel every particle of the music. It’s like your body
just picks up a tune and can’t be stopped.
I’m
a fan of all music. Old-School Rock, Pop, Alternative, Country, some
Rap, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Classical, Disco, Soundtacks, R&B Soul, etc;
I mean, is there really any music that doesn’t spark some kind of
connection and freedom to “cut a rug”? I think not. I have a few
favorites. Some that are more fun to dance to than others. Sometimes
I pick and choose and other times, I just let my playlists do the
walking. It all depends on the mood and the need at the time. (Yeah,
the dartboard feeling can be inserted in here lol.) The sweat of
frustration being worked off to a good old tune is nothing to sneeze
at, and can be essential in helping you gain some happy endorphins.
And who doesn’t need those happy endorphins?
I
mean, “…endorphins make you happy, and happy people don’t
kill their husbands” ~Reece Witherspoon, Legally Blond. LOL.
You may recall my earlier blogpost about some of my favorite playlist songs in "Listening to My Life..." I listed quite a few songs that would totally make it onto my Top Twenty Dance List. Since then, I have added to, revised and given my dance moves further license to rock out. So, I guess it's only fair to share with you an updated version of that previous list. But let's be honest here. There can NEVER be just 20 songs for the ultimate Dance Playlist. Never. I just pick the current and old favorites and recompile them. Of course, I do this quite happily.
Now, as I share my favorites for a current Dance List, I encourage you to let me know what you are listening to for your dancing enjoyment. I always love finding new songs, so post away, Friends. Post away.

4) MC Hammer, “Can’t Touch This”
5) The Allman Brothers Band, "Ramblin' Man"
6) Lynyrd Skynyrd, “Gimme Three Steps”
7) The Hollies, "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress"
8) Aloe Blacc, "Can You Do This?"

These
songs change all the time. Monthly, daily, hourly… Whatever I’m
listening to is a possibility for a Rock Star to come out. I love
finding myself taping my foot to a new song, a different song,
whatever song is playing. It leaves life open and interesting, ready
for the opportunities to perform to my heart’s content.
What
a rush it is to break out in dance. I love it. Keep rockin’ friends
and let your music inspire you to dance like there is no tomorrow.
~Love and Hugs!! :)
